Translation of Documents with Notarization

When is document translation necessary?

In a situation where there is a real opportunity to go abroad for quality education or a high-paying job, the procedure of apostille, consular legalization, or translation of documents with notarization may be required. All procedures require the availability of personal documents translated into the language of the foreign state. Sometimes even a long tourist trip or moving to another country for permanent residence requires a quality translation.

The Ministry of Justice and consular services are the authorities that often require translated documents. But, according to the procedure and accepted international legal norms, a translation has no legal force without notarization.

Many people cannot submit documents to a notary office on the first try. This happens due to ignorance of the nuances of the procedure. After all, according to the law, a translated copy can only be certified if the original document is available.

In addition, a standardized package of documents (birth and marriage certificates, diplomas, certificates, certificates from place of work and residence) can be certified by a state notary. But there are nuances regulated by the state regarding the privileges of private notaries. The latter can carry out the procedure of certifying translated documents of the following types: bank statements; personal documents with photos; contracts and agreements concluded in other states.

Procedure for notarization of translations

There is a certain list of requirements that are imposed on documents that need to be translated and certified: Availability of the original and its certified copy. Availability of a clear name of the document itself and the institution that issued it. Date, signature and seal of the organization that issued it. Documents that are placed on more than 1 sheet must be numbered and bound. Documents issued by foreign authorities must be legalized (legalized on the territory of Ukraine).

Thus, translation of documents with notarization is a fairly common procedure that requires a certain amount of knowledge for successful execution.
