There is no point in talking at length about the great benefits of automation – even the simplest ERP systems have many advantages: the ability to monitor the efficiency of current enterprise operations, quick access to information of any volume, the availability of high-quality tools for forecasting, creation of business models, and, of course, reliable control and accounting.
However, business automation can also involve a certain danger. Not all managers yet clearly understand what automation is and therefore think it can be easily replaced with good software. And if this is acceptable for large companies, since they can afford to use specialized programs, adapting them to their field of activity, then for small businesses it may simply be unaffordable.
In fact, the purchase and adaptation of software for a small number of workplaces is quite affordable for almost every firm. Moreover, as experts claim, even in the smallest companies, 'inexpensive programs' pay for themselves within a year at most. The other thing is that directors of many small businesses are simply afraid to invest money in automation, believing that it will not bring the desired economic effect.
However, in the 21st century, it is almost impossible to make your business efficient without using information flow automation programs. Therefore, if you strive to be a successful manager, you need to use all the opportunities that exist today in the business world.
At the same time, it must be understood that successful use of enterprise business process automation is possible only if the new software becomes a full-fledged component of enterprise management, rather than an external add-on to the entire system that is practically not used in the company's real activities. Nevertheless, the decision to use a business process automation system should be made after carefully weighing all the pros and cons.
