Many show business stars received unexpectedly brilliant education

As Lenta.ru notes, those who did not manage to gnaw the granite of science in their youth make up for lost time in adulthood. For example, the other day Antonio Banderas admitted that he finally fulfilled his cherished dream: he went to study fashion and design at London's Central Saint Martins college.

Doctor of Arts Kanye West

American rapper Kanye West received a doctorate of arts from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago – one of the most prestigious specialized educational institutions in the United States (the title of doctor in the American education system roughly corresponds to a candidate of sciences degree). However, for the most part, the cap and gown were pure luck.

Once, Kanye studied at the University of Chicago, where he studied English and where his late mother taught, but he abandoned his studies because of his passion for rap music. He never got his diploma. But he always wanted to take a few lectures at the Art Institute, which he repeatedly mentioned in interviews.

"When I was once giving lectures at Oxford, I thought it would be easier if I could call myself a Doctor of Arts from the Chicago Art Institute," West once remarked, half-jokingly, half-seriously. After which, a member of the academic council of the Art Institute, Lisa Wainright, actually proposed awarding the musician a doctoral degree. "I thought: wow, that's fantastic! He is a major figure in contemporary culture, and he deserves this title!" she explained. Many students of the university considered this award a farce, but the deed was done.

Doctor of Philosophy Shaquille O'Neal

The famous basketball player should be addressed as "Dr. O'Neal." After entering the NBA, he abandoned his studies at Louisiana State University, which greatly upset his parents. But the athlete promised his mom and dad that he would definitely return to the institute, and he kept his word.

To attend classes, he had to regularly ask his coach for time off. In 2012, Shaquille received a doctoral degree from Barry University. "Who knows, maybe someday I'll have to work from nine to five like everyone else," the NBA star noted in one interview. So he does not stop there and plans to enroll in law school as well.

Doctor of Astrophysics Brian May

The guitarist of Queen and author of many hits graduated from the physics and mathematics faculty of the prestigious Imperial College London. Brian had almost prepared his doctoral dissertation in astronomy research in the infrared range and had two scientific publications on astronomy when Queen's success forced him to interrupt his scientific career. However, he later returned to research and completed what he started, receiving a degree from the University of Hertfordshire.

On April 14, 2008, the musician was appointed rector of Liverpool John Moores University and held this position until March 2013. Currently, Brian continues his musical career with Queen and continues his scientific work in theoretical physics and mathematics.

Doctor of Political Science Miuccia Prada

For everyone, Miuccia Prada is the head of the Prada fashion brand and granddaughter of the founder of the legendary fashion house. However, the Italian is also the proud holder of a doctorate in political science.

In the past, Prada was also a member of the Communist Party and studied mime – in short, she was all over the place. Despite all this, Miuccia, as we see, turned out to be a very successful manager.

Doctor of Neuroscience Mayim Bialik

The actress became famous after the series "The Big Bang Theory," in which she plays a female scientist. But few know that she actually has a connection to science.

Bialik graduated from the University of California (she preferred it to Harvard and Yale, where she was also invited). Her doctoral dissertation, defended in 2008, was devoted to Prader-Willi syndrome (if that tells you anything).

Master of Business Administration Ashley Judd

The American actress, known for leading roles in the films "Kiss the Girls," "Double Jeopardy," "High Crimes," and "Amnesia," also holds a master's degree in business administration. Ashley attended graduate school at Harvard.

Doctor of Linguistics James Franco

The Golden Globe award winner earned a bachelor's degree from the University of California, a master of arts from Columbia University, and attended doctoral studies at Yale.

Master of Public Health Christy Turlington

The top model of the 1990s, Christy Turlington – the face of L'Oreal, a seductive brunette from glossy magazine covers. However, between runway shows and photo shoots, the model somehow managed to obtain both a higher education and a basic academic degree. After earning a bachelor's degree in comparative religious studies and Eastern philosophy, the beauty completed a master's degree in public health.

Doctor of Chemical Engineering Dolph Lundgren

In movies, Dolph usually portrays very brutal characters. This Swede is indeed a martial arts master. But he also has a doctorate in chemical engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Incidentally, Lundgren has an impressive IQ of 160.

Master of Education Ron Jeremy

Ron Jeremy is listed in the Guinness Book of Records for the greatest number of roles in adult films (over 1,900). In general, he needs no introduction as a porn actor. But not all his fans know that Jeremy is a teacher. At Queens College in New York, he earned a master's degree in education. Moreover, Ron specializes in teaching children with physical disabilities.
