Driver Drinks Himself to Deportation

In the Czech Republic, a foreigner got behind the wheel dead drunk, for which the court deported him from the country

As reported by Vinegret.cz citing the portal Novinky, the incident occurred in the village of Nechanice. As a result, the 42-year-old man had his driver's license confiscated and was taken to a detoxification center.

The next day, the offender told law enforcement that he had been drinking vodka with a friend for two days straight, but got behind the wheel only two days after the party. Therefore, he does not understand where the alcohol in his blood came from, especially since he felt completely sober.

The police were not convinced by this explanation; they charged the detainee with creating a public threat under the influence of intoxicating substances and referred the case to court. The trial was expedited. The man was stripped of his driver's license for two years and deported from the Czech Republic for the same period. The driver's nationality was not specified.

As Czech journalists note, the foreigner got off lightly. He faced up to three years in prison and a fine of up to 50,000 crowns.
