When applying for an immigration visa under the family reunification program, all applicants will take an exam answering simple questions, for example: "Can a wife work in France without her husband's permission?" Those wishing to immigrate to France will have to complete two-month language courses, from which those who have a basic knowledge of the language will be exempted. When attending these mandatory courses, the main thing is not the achieved level of knowledge, but attendance. Absences can lead to delays in visa issuance, while those who struggle with the language can continue lessons in France.
According to the publication, a translation of which is published on the website Inopressa.ru, the decree will come into force on December 1. As representatives of immigrant advocacy organizations note, this measure will complicate the immigration process but will not stop it, since the right to family reunification is guaranteed by EU laws.
