A study of the quality of the city's toilet infrastructure is being conducted by the Singapore Restroom Association as part of the public campaign "Happy Toilet". As AP notes, the city's authorities and public organizations are known for their fondness for conducting various campaigns aimed at improving the quality of life and various aspects of citizens' everyday life. Previous initiatives, for example, condemned chewing gum, spitting in public places, and people who do not flush the toilet after themselves.
The current program is also intended to improve life in the city. "We came up with the idea for this program because when you want to go to a public toilet, you never know what to expect inside," explains Jack Sim, president of the Restroom Association. "Sometimes you are quite satisfied, but sometimes the visit shocks you - to the point of disgust. When toilets are clean, people are happy and healthy," the official says.
