What is better: to rent or buy an office?

Without their own office, the company owner will have to travel to partners, clients, or even engage in unsavory activities – holding meetings and negotiations somewhere in a café or even in a car. And this can negatively affect the successful operation of the firm.

Of course, there is nothing shameful or catastrophic in the absence of such a workspace. It's just desirable to have it to enhance one's prestige, rating, and solidity. Sometimes having an office even contributes to the success of negotiations, helps conclude profitable agreements and contracts, which is the foundation of any business.

Entrepreneurs with sufficient funds can afford to hire an intermediary or use the services of special agencies to acquire an office. Of course, this will cost more than contacting the owner of the desired building (space) directly, but with less time expenditure. On the other hand, direct negotiations with the owner of the space for a future office are not only cheaper but also allow for more promptly, accurately, and profitably solving many emerging issues.

It is impossible to answer unequivocally the question: what is better – buying or office rental – cannot. There are many different influencing factors, its pros and cons. Every businessman must decide this question for themselves. However, there are situations where the answer to this question is quite clear.

For example, starting entrepreneurs are strongly advised not to buy a building (space) for an office. What if business goes down instead of up, and the space is already bought? What to do? After all, selling real estate, as a rule, does not compensate for the costs of its purchase.

From all that has been said, it follows that, after all, renting an office is mostly preferable to buying (at least at the initial stage of work). It is much cheaper, especially without an intermediary. There is an opportunity to put the saved money to work – increase employee salaries, invest in profitable projects, pay taxes, etc.

So, do not rush to buy. If things go badly – you will lose much less when renting than when buying. If things go well – you will always have time to buy an office.
