Clean ventilation ducts are not only the key to healthy breathing, but also safety
Speaking generally about ventilation systems, they are an ideal repository not only for fat, but also for dust and substances harmful to the human body. Non-professionals do not pay due attention to cleaning ventilation because, in their opinion, there are no significant reasons for concern – the system seems to work, the fan spins. However, the content of microbes and parasites in it – like a mutiny on a ship – increases every day and will ultimately cause irreparable damage.
As experts from the specialized company WindAir told us, timely cleaning of ventilation (ventilatsiooni puhastus) is a process that should be carried out at least twice a year. At the same time, the simplest way to disinfect the ventilation system is a method that allows you to neglect the disassembly of the entire system. This uses high-class special equipment aimed at cleaning air ducts with steam, washing them, or cleaning using powerful industrial vacuum cleaners.
Depending on the purpose of the room where the ventilation system is installed, the following cleaning methods are distinguished:
• In restaurants and other public catering establishments, where fat layers accumulate quickly in the system, long brushes on shafts with automatic cleaning foam supply are used.
• In gyms and classrooms, where dust settles rapidly, a method using the same shaft brushes is used, but unlike the previous method, vacuum dust removal is used. This procedure – ventilatsiooni puhastamine – is considered dry cleaning.
• Air ducts and fans are cleaned manually using steam cleaners and high-pressure washing units.
The very process of inspecting ventilation systems and air ducts is not a game of Russian roulette, because for diagnostics specialists use a teleinspection tool – a special video camera. With its help, it is very easy to give an ideal assessment of the degree and type of contamination, and to assess the condition of the air duct itself.
After completing a cycle of operations aimed at cleaning the ventilation, its positive aspects will be clearly visible. Namely: there will be an increase in the supply of clean air, the fan will become much quieter. And most importantly, the content of microbes and parasites, invisible to the human eye in the system itself, will become significantly less.
