Children's toys cannot be replaced by television or computer
The opinion of child psychologists is unequivocal and categorical: children need toys, and they cannot be replaced by any alternatives. However, the choice of toys must be approached very carefully and selectively. Undoubtedly, every girl or boy of a certain age should have a set of toys that matches their level of development, age, and interests, but this does not mean that every item that can be bought or advertised on television should be considered a high-quality educational toy necessary for your child.
When entering a children's goods store, remember that any item that catches a child's interest can become their toy, which they will not want to part with. Therefore, choose only high-quality, safe products, preferably made from natural materials, whose purpose is clearly visible. For example, if it is a construction set, it should be assembled, and all parts should fit their purpose. If it is a board game, its rules should be clear and interesting; if it is a doll, it should be beautiful; if it is a stuffed toy, it should be recognizable.
When your child asks you to buy a certain toy, ask why they want it. If it's just because their friends have the same one, explain to the child that copying others is wrong. If they saw it in an advertisement, be sure to evaluate how such a toy will contribute to the development of certain qualities in your child, and only then make a decision about the purchase.
Note that all child psychologists agree that children's toys should be varied. Even if a girl plays exclusively with dolls and a boy with cars, which is extremely rare, their corner should include stuffed toys, blocks, construction sets, balls, jump ropes, rackets, musical instruments, etc. Therefore, when planning another visit to a toy store, be sure to review what types of toys are already present in your home and what is missing. By buying something new, you not only help expand your child's range of interests but also give them the opportunity to determine their own priorities.
