The Demand for the English Language in the Modern World

English is the most widespread language in the world

However, although scientific luminaries invented 'substitutes' that were supposed to become the standard for communication in international organizations, neither Esperanto nor the languages of other European powers could shake the primacy of Foggy Albion.

Developing business and cultural ties between peoples have led to English being the most popular language for translation services ordered from translation agencies. Its popularity is due to many factors, the main ones being its wide geographical distribution and ease of learning.

Its kinship with many languages makes translation into German, Italian, Spanish, French easy. Moreover, it is simple to learn; one does not need to be a linguist or even know the basics of learning. English allows concise expression without lengthy and verbose formulations. This is especially valued among businessmen, for whom the formula 'time is money' is more than important. Another distinctive feature of this language is the analytical construction of sentences. The use of function words rather than changing word forms allows even people with a low level of knowledge to express themselves in a way that is understood.

At the same time, when a competent translation of business English is needed, it is better to have it done by a professional translator or a translation agency. The reason for this is the fundamental differences between the native languages of our compatriots and the British.

In particular, compactness is standard in English, which is not characteristic of the Russian language with its abundance of interjections, epithets, and complex speech forms. Therefore, a professional translator must have another habit – the ability to turn simple into complex and vice versa – to transform 'fancy' speech into simple phrases. German also has a similar relative simplicity. Therefore, translating text into German and English while preserving all the beauty and expressiveness of our native language is also a manifestation of true professionalism.

To understand how much English is in demand in the modern world, it is enough to recall the fact that three-quarters of all business correspondence in the world is conducted in English. Knowledge of German and English is a must-have not only when being hired by a translation agency, but also in any company that has international partnerships.
