The increase in the number of workers from Ukraine is accompanied by a record drop in unemployment in Łódź
Michał Smęchowicz, director of the Bureau of Economic Development of the Łódź City Hall, says that it is difficult to determine the exact number of workers from beyond Poland's eastern border, but it can be done based on issued work permits.
As Polskie Radio notes, the increase in the number of workers from beyond Poland's eastern border is accompanied by a record drop in unemployment in Łódź. The Central Statistical Office recorded an unemployment rate of 5.4 percent at the end of April. It is quite likely that this figure will fall below 5 percent in the summer months.
After the introduction of new employment rules in Germany, there is a possibility of an outflow of some Ukrainians from Poland. However, Paweł Kułaga from the company Foreign Personnel Service says that a mass outflow of Ukrainians from Poland should not be expected. The new German law will facilitate work primarily for qualified specialists.
According to the National Bank of Poland, about one million two hundred thousand Ukrainians work in all of Poland.
