Payment of humanitarian aid to Ukrainian refugees will continue even after the state of emergency is lifted
Thus, as reported by Radio Prague, ministries and other state institutions will be able to allocate housing for accommodating refugees from Ukraine even after the state of emergency is lifted, and local authorities will be obliged to provide temporary housing to refugees. The registration system will operate under the previous rules.
Currently, all refugees are entitled to receive 5,000 crowns per month during the month in which the temporary protection visa was issued. In the following 5 months, payment is made only to those who are in a difficult financial situation.
The amendment removes the restriction and allows paying aid to refugees in difficult circumstances even after six months of stay. However, after the sixth month, the amount of the subsidy is reduced to the subsistence minimum and will be 4,250 crowns per adult and 3,050 crowns per child.
Due to the migration crisis caused by the influx of refugees from Ukraine after the invasion of the country by the Russian army, the Czech Republic introduced a state of emergency, which expires on June 30.
According to the Czech Ministry of the Interior, as of June 16, 2022, 377,000 temporary protection visas were issued to Ukrainian citizens who left their country after Russia's invasion. Since some refugees leave the republic for third countries or return home, it is difficult to determine their exact number on the territory of the Czech Republic. According to the Ministry of the Interior, there may be between 280,000 and 300,000 Ukrainian refugees in the country.
The temporary protection visa that Ukrainians receive gives them the right to stay in the Czech Republic for one year, use the healthcare system, education, and find employment without obtaining additional permits.
