When the preparatory work on sealing seams and joints is completed, you can proceed to treating the walls. First, it is necessary to clean the surface from unnecessary coating, dirt, dust, and the like. Next, you need to attach the polystyrene foam directly. To improve thermal insulation properties, it is necessary to purchase polystyrene foam at least 50 millimeters thick; only such thickness can provide warmth in your home. The polystyrene foam must be attached with specialized glue, applying it with a spatula over the entire surface of the foam board.
The foam board, covered with the solution, is firmly pressed against the wall and fixed in this position for some time to set. The boards must be laid without gaps, as the presence of gaps would cause some heat loss. For additional strength, the boards must be fixed with fasteners, which are sold in the form of umbrellas. After you have installed all the boards, a reinforcing mesh is attached to the foam, on which decorative plaster is subsequently applied.
