Czech Republic counts illegal migrants caught in a year

In the vast majority of cases (5,174), foreigners entered the country legally and then, for various reasons, violated the established periods and purposes of stay. Among such illegal migrants, Ukrainians predominated – 1,456 people. They were followed by citizens of Moldova (825), Vietnam (353), Russia (234), and Uzbekistan (199).

As for illegal transit migration, 503 people were caught last year. These were mainly citizens of Iraq, Syria, Afghanistan, and Iran, heading through the republic to Germany and other EU countries.

According to Vinegret.cz, 7,067 foreigners were deported from the Czech Republic last year (+1,354 compared to 2018). In the vast majority of cases, the reason was illegal employment. Here again, citizens of Ukraine and Moldova predominated.
