Classification of solid fuel boilers by fuel type
The main condition for the operation of the devices is the availability of solid fuel and the possibility of its storage.
Today, the climate equipment market offers both classic models of units and modern developments that ensure long burning, freeing owners from constant attachment to device maintenance.
Types of fuel
Before browsing solid fuel heating boilers in search of a suitable model, it is necessary to determine which type of fuel will be the main one for producing thermal energy. The designs of the combustion chambers of the installations differ and can be oriented toward a specific raw material.
Coal boiler
In traditional models, the grate is located in the lower combustion part of the device. The unit operates with natural air supply. Coal burns quickly, requiring regular, frequent cleaning.
Modified long-burning coal models operate more rationally and economically. They accumulate heat well. Air is supplied using forced ventilation. Such products are more expensive, but the level of comfortable operation is higher. If requirements are met, the device can operate up to 5 days in continuous mode when organizing screw feeding of fuel material.
Wood boiler
The availability of wood materials dictates the demand for designs using split firewood, lumber, and briquettes as fuel.
Loading of raw materials in classic units is 2-3 times a day. Long-burning devices can operate up to 48 hours in autonomous mode. Two combustion chambers are used simultaneously: the firebox for burning wood and a second chamber where the released gas is burned.
Pellet boilers
Modern pellet units are characterized by a high level of efficiency. Automatic material supply is achieved thanks to a hopper for loading pellets and a screw flexible or rigid system for delivering raw materials to the combustion chamber.
Pellet models, like all long-burning solid fuel heating boilers, are energy-dependent. Automatic sensors and electronic control systems ensure safe and economical operation of the equipment.
Mixed fuel devices
When there is no clear understanding of which type of fuel will be available for the current or subsequent seasons, it is possible to purchase a universal design. The simple design does not require special skills for maintenance, and its cost does not require large financial investments.
