Types of certification in the UkrSEPRO system
UkrSEPRO certification is divided into mandatory and voluntary. Mandatory certification applies to a certain list of products established by law. Mandatory certification is carried out for compliance with the requirements of regulatory documentation and includes procedures for testing and checking the product to determine its characteristics and further technical supervision of the product that has passed the certification procedure.Voluntary certification is carried out for compliance of the product with requirements that are not mandatory from the point of view of current legislation. Also, voluntary certification can be carried out on the initiative of the manufacturer, buyer or seller, executive authorities, various public organizations, on the basis of an agreement between the applicant and the certification body. The voluntary certification procedure can be carried out both by independent organizations that have the right to carry out assessment work, and by state certification bodies that have accreditation.
Certification of imported and domestic products in Ukraine is carried out according to the same schemes.
Current status of UkrSEPRO certification in Ukraine
Today, conformity certification in the UkrSEPRO system is not mandatory – this is due to Ukraine's European integration course. There is a transition from confirmation of compliance with standards to confirmation of compliance of product indicators with the requirements of technical regulations (TR). As new technical regulations are developed and outdated standards are abolished, changes are made to the list of products subject to mandatory certification. The priority document is gradually becoming the TR Declaration of Conformity, while the certificate of conformity is turning mainly into a voluntary document.
