More than 5,000 people have already been deported from Germany this year
As "Russkaya Germaniya" notes, in the same period last year, 6,235 people were expelled from the country. And in total for the entire 2018, about 24,000 people were deported from Germany.
At the same time, Ulla Jelpke, the interior policy expert of the Left Party parliamentary faction, believes that these statistics indicate the insufficiency of measures taken to solve the problem of illegal immigration and prevent it. Ulla Jelpke noted that the number of deportations still remains "at an alarmingly high level" and criticized the authorities' implementation of forced repatriation of refugees.
It is worth noting that the number of illegal immigrants arriving in the European Union is noticeably decreasing. According to the European Border and Coast Guard Agency, in the past year, 2018, 150,114 cases of illegal border crossings into the European Union were registered, which is approximately 27 percent less than in 2017.
Recall that, in accordance with the Dublin Agreement, immigrants arriving in the EU must apply for asylum in the first country of their visit to the European Union.
