As "Russkaya Germaniya" notes, the new protective structure separates the resort territory itself from the surrounding less prosperous areas and the desert. Now, entering the resort zone of Sharm el-Sheikh is possible only through gates equipped with cameras and scanners.
A total of four entrances have been set up. "Suspicious people will be searched, their cars will be checked. They won't be able to just get into the resort," said the governor of South Sinai, Khaled Fouda, about the new security measures.
The governor also emphasized that, in his opinion, the wall turned out "luxurious," and the part of the fence made of wire mesh allows one to enjoy the landscapes as before its construction.
However, not everyone shares his opinion – many residents of Sharm el-Sheikh call the new fortification an "environmental, aesthetic, and tourist catastrophe" that turned a beautiful city into an "ugly prison."
