Websites eliminate violations of passenger rights

Such violations include the lack of indication of the full ticket price at all stages of booking, hidden fees and commissions, optional services included in the ticket price in advance, lack of information about fare conditions, discrimination in access to the fare based on citizenship or place of residence, and the like.

According to Travel.ru, during the first inspection, about a third of websites violated consumer rights, including the websites of airlines themselves, as well as various agencies. At present, violations have been found in one in seven cases.

The European Commission threatens to publish the names of these websites and to apply various sanctions against them – from fines to closure – if the problems are not resolved by May. In particular, the website of Europe's largest low-cost airline Ryanair still shows prices without airport and government taxes, but includes in the price optional fees for insurance and the right to board the plane among the first, which the passenger then has to cancel themselves.

In the countries of the former Soviet Union, such work is not yet being carried out. As shown by the website audit, most domestic airlines have, from the perspective of European laws, certain violations. The most common include advertising prices without indicating fuel and other surcharges, as well as a lack of information about fare conditions. In some cases, airline and agency websites also violate domestic legislation.
