Immigrants bring huge profits to France

The French National Institute of Demographic Studies (INED) conducted research whose results once and for all set the record straight. It turns out that immigrants alone bring France a profit of 12 billion euros per year. Moreover, they also play a non-negligible role in the pension issue, which is worrying all of Europe today. According to the same studies, since the 1970s, the level of immigration in France has been declining. The country experienced its greatest influx of immigration in the 1950s and 1960s, due to which today 11% of the population in France are foreigners.

But let us return to the research of the French institute in the city of Lille, where a group of researchers led by Professor Xavier Chojnicki found out exactly how much immigrants cost the French economy. As a result of a three-year study, it was revealed that if the French state allocates 16.3 billion euros to pay pensions to immigrants, in return it receives 18.4 billion from the taxes they pay on consumer goods. 2.5 billion is spent by the state on housing benefits for low-income immigrants. At the same time, the housing tax that foreigners pay annually to the state treasury amounts to 3.3 billion euros. The list continues with unemployment benefits amounting to 6.7 billion per year. For their part, foreign residents replenish the country's budget with social contributions amounting to 26.4 billion euros per year.

In addition to this profit of 12.4 billion euros, the foreign-born population also makes another positive contribution to the social and economic sphere of the country: 90% of roads are built and repaired by the hands of immigrant workers. Occupying jobs that the French do not agree to, immigrants play an important role in the current and future pension fund system.

As 'Russkaya Germaniya' notes, immigrants are mostly a young population. And young people, as is known, are the most active consumers. Consequently, the treasury is replenished from their spending, despite the fact that most of these people do not have higher education and are more often unemployed. This phenomenon is easily compensated by the profit from their spending and tax contributions.
