Choosing the Right Coffee Maker

Choosing the Right Coffee Maker

The taste of your favorite drink also depends on the choice of coffee maker

Types of Coffee Makers

There are several types of coffee makers that can be used both at home and in the office. And any online home appliance store Donetsk and other cities of Ukraine are flooded with orders for drip, capsule, portafilter, French press, and combination machines. Let's briefly look at each type of equipment to help you decide on a model.

Drip Models

Drip-type machines are the most popular. They are the simplest and cheapest. They consist of a carafe on a heating element into which liquid flows from a top chamber. The drink is made using filters: boiling water drips onto ground coffee, which gives up its properties.

A drip model is ideal for a modest budget. The price varies depending on the capacity and power of the device.

French Press

These are plunger models with a simple design: a glass cylinder, plunger, filter. Ground coffee is placed in the container, hot water is poured in, steeped for several minutes, and then the plunger, moving down, pushes the grounds. And you can enjoy a filtered, rich drink.

Such coffee makers are ideal for travel. You can make your favorite drink even on a train. No electricity is needed. Going camping? Also take a French press. Up to 8 cups of warming coffee in bad weather – and your friendly group is cheerful again and singing songs with guitar.

The only drawback of this type of equipment is the lack of automation. The whole process is, as they say, in your hands. However, this can also be an advantage. Moreover, the price of a French press is quite reasonable.

Portafilter Models (or Espresso)

This is an expensive type of coffee maker. In a portafilter model, the drink is made under steam pressure. Ground coffee is tamped into a special portafilter, you press a button – and coffee is ready. By the way, its taste is incomparable to that from drip models: thick, rich, and aromatic. High pressure extracts all the beneficial properties from each bean. As a result, you enjoy a quality drink. Espresso machines are bought both for personal use and for public establishments.

Capsule Models

They require pressed coffee in special capsules. When inserted into the machine, they are pierced in three places, then a hot stream of air mixes the contents, water enters the chamber – and there you have coffee. The price of capsule machines varies in the mid-range.

Combination Coffee Makers

These are robot-like devices that combine the functions of espresso and drip coffee makers. They require special coffee – of a particular roast and grind. The advantage of this type of equipment is compactness. It is an ideal option for small kitchens.

What Determines the Price of a Coffee Maker

The prices of coffee makers depend on their type. Drip models are considered affordable, portafilter models are expensive. In addition, the price is influenced by the power of the devices, functionality, material of the body and functional parts, types of filters used, and so on. But of course, the choice should be made based on the intended use of the model.
