The operation of information systems is no less vivid example of working with various types of data. Processing huge amounts of information is the main activity of such systems.

They are designed in such a way that they allow the user to spend only seconds searching for the necessary data and not perform monotonous data filtering work. Metadata varies in content and can describe the resource itself or its contents.
Metadata also differ in their logical inference capabilities. Those describing the resource provide information about themselves, while those describing the content provide information about the previous ones. Logical inference based on available information is done by third metadata. There are special formats in which metadata are presented (CIF, DCMI, MODS, and others).
