In good 'stars' – only good bedding
Since bed linen is one of the most important things in a hotel room, the way it is handled can provide a fairly objective assessment of the level of service in a particular hotel. So...
SCENARIO ONE. A traveler enters a room where there is no sheet or duvet cover. Stop! – it seems we have entered not a hotel, but some kind of hotel den. If the traveler does not like extreme situations, they should look for another hotel. However, first ask the staff – maybe the linen was simply forgotten to be put in?
SCENARIO TWO. The sheet and duvet cover are present on the bed, but they are washed so carelessly that it's time to turn on the laptop and look for the nearest online home textile store to order a clean bedding set for the hotel room.
Take our advice and, if possible, leave this hotel, because most likely nothing good awaits you there. That is why in cheap hotels you should inspect the room before paying for accommodation.
SCENARIO THREE. A clean bedding set is present in the room, but difficulties arise with its timely replacement by the staff. Depending on the severity of the case, washing is done after more or less urgent requests addressed to the staff or the administrator.
SCENARIO FOUR. The sizes of the sheet and duvet cover do not match the size of the bed. This is a situation from the Soviet past. Fortunately, today such a blatant violation of logic is practically unheard of.
SCENARIO FIVE. A bedding set is available, but not laid out in its rightful place (the bed), because making the bed is left to the guest. Whether to try to shift this work to the staff is your personal matter.
In fairness, it should be noted that in some countries and regions, such relationships between hotel guests and bed linen are a generally accepted norm. And asking about not too burdensome local traditions would be not too polite towards the hotel staff.
SCENARIO SIX. A clean bedding set of the right size lies in its rightful place and is regularly replaced with a new set. This indicates that you have found a good hotel. Fortunately, this scenario will be the most common if you plan your travels wisely!
