Amendments to the law on foreigners came into force, providing for the issuance of a residence permit in case of transferring a company to Poland
As Polskie Radio notes, the amended law implements a directive of the European Parliament and the Council of the European Union of May 15, 2014. The deadline for implementing the directive expired on November 29, 2016. According to the Office for Foreigners, the changes may affect 200,000 people.
The maximum period for transferring a company to Poland is 3 years for managerial staff and specialists and 1 year for trainees. To take advantage of the transfer opportunity, employment in the company is required for 12 months for managerial staff and specialists and 6 months for trainees.
Only the management of the transferred company may submit a request to the voivode for a temporary residence permit in Poland. Based on the permit, the foreigner will be able to work in that company throughout the European Union.
In addition, according to the amendments to the law on foreigners, persons applying for a permanent residence permit must know Polish at least at level B1. The updated law provides for a number of other changes.
