Crisis times have always been characterized by an increased desire of citizens to change places
The fact is that recently a trend has been developing where people, retaining Russian citizenship, live in another country – for example, with relatives, or by buying a house abroad. There are also emigrants who have obtained a work or study visa, actually living in another country and not planning to return.
The second group not included in the statistical data are persons who have obtained dual citizenship. These Russians can permanently reside in another country while retaining their affiliation with the Russian state.
Considering all these groups of emigrants who have left the country, sociologists conclude that Russia is among the top five countries that are suppliers of human resources for other states. And this phenomenon is explained by several reasons.
First of all, the emigration of Russian citizens from the country is connected with the fact that the current crisis is characterized primarily by the outflow of financial capital abroad and, as a result, one of the reasons for emigration is the search for higher earnings. As is known, earnings abroad are significantly higher than in Russia.
Secondly, people are dissatisfied with the low level of development of the country as a whole. This applies to literally all areas: economy, culture, social policy, services, education, etc. Therefore, Russians strive to go abroad to a more developed country where they can get a prestigious education, decent work and pay, live in a decent house and also in better climatic conditions.
The third reason is the threat to personal security. Due to the financial crisis, negative phenomena in society such as persecution for non-payment of debts, loans, extortion, fraud, etc., have escalated. And for some population groups, especially businessmen, there is a tendency to find a safer place for themselves and their families. There is even such a concept as business emigration.
In addition to the above, it is worth noting that for Russia, a state of crisis is a common phenomenon to which the people have long been accustomed and have learned to survive under any conditions. Since the country is constantly 'shaken', over the years people have developed the idea that life abroad is better, more stable, more comfortable. Therefore, during any crisis, the number of citizens leaving the country increases.
