This year, 89,000 people applied for a residence permit in Poland
As Polskie Radio notes, most often Ukrainians want to settle in Poland, who submitted 65% of all applications for a residence permit. The list of leaders also includes citizens of Belarus, India, China and Vietnam. In total, in the first half of the year, 62,000 foreigners received a residence permit.
As for applications for refugee status, their number, compared to the same period last year, decreased by 60%.
The Office for Foreigners reported that in 93% of cases, residents of the former Soviet Union apply for refugee status in Poland – mainly Russia, Ukraine, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Armenia, Georgia and Belarus. And the majority of applications were submitted by Russian citizens of Chechen nationality.
