Resettlers will find it easier to become Russians

Deputies consider granting resettlers the right to a simplified procedure for obtaining Russian citizenship as one of the ways to activate the process. Therefore, the State Duma yesterday adopted in the second reading a bill establishing a simplified procedure for acquiring Russian citizenship by former compatriots.

This means that they will not have to pass an exam on knowledge of the Russian language, provide a certificate of lawful sources of income, and necessarily reside in Russia for 5 years from the date of obtaining a residence permit.

At the same time, as noted by Rosbalt, to obtain a passport of a citizen of the Russian Federation, former compatriots must have registration at their place of residence in the region they have chosen for permanent residence.
