Italian Parliament Passes New Law on Immigrants

According to the new law, it will be much easier to extradite foreigners than it is now. In addition, reports Gazeta.Ru, authorities will get the right to confiscate property rented by illegal immigrants. Immigrants in Italy will also face longer prison sentences for committing crimes.

Lawmakers also insist that immigrants undergo fingerprinting before obtaining entry documents.

The law was passed after heated debates between the conservative majority in the lower house and the opposition. Now it must be approved by the upper house of parliament.
