The crisis dictates its own terms and introduces new adjustments to the economies of countries. Many firms cease their operations, thousands of employees are left without work. The fierce competition provoked by the crisis increases the demand for qualified specialists with work experience.
Career-oriented specialists can undergo internships and gain the necessary work experience in foreign firms, thereby providing themselves with an excellent stimulus for career growth. Is work experience an important factor when hiring? Two-thirds of employers consider its presence decisive when hiring, the rest consider education and willingness to work mandatory.
During an interview, employers pay attention to the applicant's diploma and resume. Of course, personal qualities, abilities and skills are taken into account. For many, the decisive argument when choosing a specialist is the presence of work experience; for some firms, work experience in foreign companies is desirable.
Applicants with work experience have a better chance of employment – and it doesn't matter whether your specialty is landscape design or marketing. A statistical survey conducted by a research center showed that more than 85.8% of representatives of firms and various companies believe that 'you need to have work experience, and it's good if it's foreign.'
About 11.2% of employers consider education mandatory, this is primarily due to the specifics of the companies' work, 'our companies require specialists with mandatory specialized education.'
Approximately 3% found it difficult to answer, expressing the opinion that 'everything will depend on the position a particular applicant is applying for.' In one case, it will be enough to review the applicant's track record, in another, if you have a young specialist, you can look at their education diploma.
Although experienced HR professionals tend to think that 'good education is great, and no one has canceled it, but professional experience is simply necessary,' it's even better if, in addition to everything else, it is experience in foreign firms.
