Oktoberfest-2015: Beer with Ice Cream

About six and a half million people visit the Oktoberfest beer festival in Munich every year. The main measure for everything here is the beer mug. The traditional liter Munich mug made of thick glass is called Maß. How much beer in such a mug will cost – that's what fans of the world-famous folk festival in the capital of Bavaria want to know long before its start.

This year, as announced by the Oktoberfest organizing committee, for the first time in the long history of the festival, the minimum price of a liter mug of beer will exceed 10 euros. As a special delicacy for people coming to Oktoberfest from all over the world, beer ice cream or ice cream made from beer is being offered this year.

Additionally, new giant swing-carousels were presented – also a mandatory attribute of the festival. At the Munich Oktoberfest-2015, visitors will be taken, as announced, on the world's highest and fastest swings of the 'monkey cage' type. These are swings, usually resembling a cage, that make a full circle in the air around a horizontal axis, but the person sitting or standing in them does not turn upside down. Nevertheless, as the organizers of the beer festival noted, it is recommended to ride before tasting the beer.

Of course, one new attraction per season is indecent for a festival of this scale. On the Theresienwiese with a total area of 42 hectares, where Oktoberfest takes place, they promise to install several more technological refinements for nerve-tickling. In particular, the world's tallest mobile multi-story house with a parkour of moving walkways and rotating logs, as well as a mobile 'Room of Fear' attraction – also, of course, the largest in the world.

Hearty food plays a secondary role at Oktoberfest, but still you can't be full on beer alone. Especially since the traditional menu – pretzels and roast chicken – no longer fully meet the requirements of the times with all its vegetarian and vegan trends. Therefore, this year the menu includes special dishes for diabetics and 'herbivores'. For dessert, (besides beer ice cream) cotton candy in the shape of various inflorescences or in the shape of traditional Munich white sausage will be offered. The profitability of Munich's 'meadows' (as they are called, although the grass on the territory where Oktoberfest takes place has long been trampled) is estimated at one billion euros.

Beer can generally be drunk anywhere. But there are nuances. At Oktoberfest, beer is not drunk just out in the open. That is not prestigious. It is prestigious to get into one of the overcrowded pavilion tents, although it is noisy, hot, stuffy, and cramped. Please note that without a prior reservation, you will have to stand in line at the entrance for a very long time. So it is better to take care of this in advance.
