In mid-December of last year, the second most important meeting of the Advisory Council for Work with New and Permanent Participants of Foreign Economic Activity took place. The meeting was conducted by the director in Domodedovo, A.N. Popov. The meeting raised the issue of introducing new advanced technologies into practice that will be related to the activities of Domodedovo Customs.
One of the representatives of Volga-Dnepr-Moscow stated that this corporation has successfully introduced a new technology for electronic document and cargo processing in the field of air freight transportation. This system has the working name E-Freight and is approved by the International Air Transport Association (IATA).
Revolutionary Changes at Domodedovo Customs
The purpose of this program has justified itself, because its main task is to fully replace paper media with electronic methods of conducting and implementing all cargo transportation processes. The result will be a reduction in all possible costs for full-fledged cargo transportation by aircraft of all types and classes.
A representative of Volga-Dnepr-Moscow, A.B. Boldyreva, enlightened the council participants on all the nuances and issues concerning the prospects of the E-Freight system. As an example, the final results of global customs terminals were cited. This system has proven particularly successful in Singapore. This technology made it possible to build a clear vertical between the customs service and government bodies.
Problems and Successes of New Initiatives at Domodedovo Customs
Representatives of Domodedovo Customs noted the peculiarities of the implementation of this pilot project, because it is no accident that the palm of primacy went to them. There, in practice, they managed to prove that the Russian customs system in the field of air transportation works efficiently.
Nevertheless, representatives of Transaero, who tested this technology in a trial mode, drew attention to some problematic issues related to preliminary information in customs rules.
It was decided to fully implement this technology by the start of the 2014 Olympic Games in Sochi and to involve the world's leading customs services in this work. In particular, Domodedovo customs officers will be advised by European specialists from Kuehne+Nagel LLC.
