Laptop vs Netbook: Which One to Choose?

Sales of Acer, Asus, HP laptops continue to grow, netbooks are lagging behind in the race

On one hand, there is a desire to listen to the majority opinion (truth, probably on their side), on the other – with such a responsible choice, it is necessary to consider your own needs. And yet, what?

What is better – netbook or laptop

Asking such a question, everyone starts looking for information, and the first thing they learn is that laptop sales are significantly more successful than netbook sales. Does this mean that you should buy a laptop?

Of course, laptops are equipped with everything needed to solve important production tasks. They have a large screen, a sufficiently large amount of memory, can perform any complex tasks (for example, they can handle the latest games with intricate graphics). However, not everyone is satisfied with their dimensions and weight. They seem especially burdensome to users who have to carry these heavy devices with them, and even more so to travel with them on business trips or other trips.

Features of a netbook

The heavy laptops have been replaced by a light, compact and inexpensive netbook. It weighs less than a kilogram, and its small dimensions make it easier to transport. The display of netbooks usually ranges from 10.1 inches (for example, Acer eMachines) to 12.1 (Asus Eee), which is quite enough for comfortable work with text documents.

A compact laptop provides the ability to work on the Internet, check email, use Skype (or ICQ) for communication. However, given the fact that netbooks are often equipped with an Intel Atom processor, you need to be prepared for long 'freezes' when connecting 'heavy' applications. Most of these compact computers do not have CD/DVD drives, so if necessary, you will have to connect an external one (or do with a flash drive if that suits you).

The latest models of netbooks are equipped with the NVIDIA Ion system, which allows you to watch videos on them without problems. In addition, some of them may have a successfully running Windows 7 OS and an installed Mac OS X. Of course, equipping a netbook with a Windows operating system significantly increases its cost. But it should be noted that these compact computers work perfectly with Linux OS as well. Such models can cost less than $200 USD. In general, good netbooks can be bought for $300-500.

To finally decide on the choice, you need only one thing: to understand why you want to buy a portable computer.
