This article is a few real stories of ruined vacations. However, they can be considered quite typical, and therefore Газета.Ru recommends that everyone who decides to go on vacation read them. It will come in handy.
Services not matching tourist expectations
In late autumn, an elderly couple went on vacation to Italy. However, they returned from the trip dissatisfied: the man, who had recently suffered a heart attack, found the guide callous and insensitive, the room uncomfortable, and the excursions tiring. The couple's persistent attempts to obtain monetary compensation for what they considered a ruined vacation led to nothing. The management of the travel agency stood firm: such a claim has no legal basis.
Unjustified expectations are a fairly common topic of complaints. Moreover, tourists who go on vacation after suffering cardiovascular diseases are the most categorical. This is explained simply: it is after such illnesses that people become more sensitive to the slightest shortcomings or manifestations of coldness from others. And since travel agencies do not accept such claims as having no legal grounds, there is only one way out: during the rehabilitation period, go on vacation accompanied by a young relative who will try to minimize possible inconveniences.
Problems with national cuisine
While on vacation in Egypt, two friends were interested in tasting local cuisine. One of the girls reminded her overly enthusiastic friend of the possible consequences of such curiosity. She did not heed the friendly advice and spent the last three days on a forced strict diet - her stomach could not cope with the shock amount of spicy and piquant dishes.
Problems associated with the gastrointestinal tract while staying in a southern country are, alas, an unpleasant thing. Therefore, one should remember that sometimes even such an innocent activity as tasting an appetizing-looking dish can spoil your mood for a long time. It is doubly unpleasant when such an incident occurs during a short trip abroad.
The most reliable way to protect your vacation is to go to a hotel that offers not only national cuisine dishes but also a European menu. In this case, at the first signs of discomfort, you can switch to traditional cuisine.
Changed departure time
A couple bought an inexpensive tour to Egypt, arrived at the airport as required two hours before check-in, and were horrified to discover that their plane had already been in the air for a couple of hours.
If a tourist is late because the departure time was changed and the travel agency employee did not inform the client, an investigation is conducted to determine the true culprit of the incident.
To begin with, it is necessary to obtain written confirmation from the competent airport services, which will record the discrepancy between the information indicated on the tickets and the actual departure time of the plane. This certificate will serve as the basis for filing claims against the travel agency, which will have to find out whose fault caused the annoying mix-up and who will pay compensation to the affected tourists. In fairness, it should be noted that in the case of obvious guilt of the travel company, the victims will most likely be offered to go to their destination on the next flight the same day or the next.
Poor quality of services
Having gone on vacation to Croatia, a group of tourists ended up in a hotel on whose territory construction was in full swing. Accordingly, none of the hotel's pools worked, and the industrial noise, dust, and sound accompaniment were little different from a bustling capital construction site.
It was not possible to come to an amicable agreement with the representative of the travel agency, since the tourists indignantly rejected compensation in the form of a free excursion. The legally savvy initiative core of the group proposed filing a lawsuit upon return against the tour operator who provided a poor-quality service. And since, in accordance with current legislation, each party must prove the circumstances it refers to, emotions alone are not enough. In general, if you are determined to go to war, the action plan is as follows:
1. It is necessary to obtain from the receiving party a certificate confirming that construction work is being carried out at the hotel, and therefore the beach and pools are not functioning.
2. Draw up a collective act recording the unpleasant facts, indicating the passport data and contact details of all those who signed this outrage (at least two independent witnesses are required).
3. Video and photo recordings of the same construction site can be good evidence for the court. But! In the absence of points 1 and 2, photographs and video recordings are not evidence, and the court does not accept them for consideration.
Experienced lawyers warn that a conscientious travel agency, admitting its guilt, may offer $50-70 as compensation. And in most cases it is better to agree to this amount, since the court may award even less. Plus your moral and material costs. Whether the game is worth the candle is for you to decide.
