Over time, this project successfully evolved into an independent product of Russian developers. Today, the social network VKontakte is much more popular among Russian youth than the original from American minds – Facebook. This is not surprising, since the creators of the VKontakte project initially targeted the Russian-speaking audience. And if in the first years of its existence, 'Kontakt' was indeed practically identical to Facebook in terms of functionality and various features, then later both social projects went their own way and ceased to be identical twins.
