The famous Croisette promenade
The city gained fame thanks to the annual Cannes Film Festival. Traditionally, the event is held at the Palais des Festivals et des Congrès. Every year it is visited by hundreds of stars and thousands of spectators. Everyone who is passionate about the world of cinema tries to come here to see the actors in person, get autographs, and enjoy the latest releases in the film industry. Watching movies in a cinema is not at all comparable to watching them on TV. And even a home theater projector cannot convey the full mood of the film.
The first festival in Cannes took place in 1946. Over the next 10 years, the event was held irregularly. But starting from 1952, the management decided that the film festival should be organized every year in May. Due to this, for the past 59 years, people from all over the world have been flocking to Cannes to at least catch a glimpse of the stars and immerse themselves in the world of cinema. Among our compatriots, there are also many admirers of modern cinema. So, on the French resort, one can meet Russian tourists as well.
Of course, Cannes is famous not only for the film festival. It is not for nothing that the cream of European society gathers here. Cultural and social life is in full swing. The city constantly hosts exhibitions, performances, cocktail parties. In short, vacationers always have something to do here. In the morning, you can go sunbathing on the beach, during the day sit in a cozy restaurant on the shore of the bay, and in the evening go to a club, a social party, or the prestigious Palm Beach Casino.
The favorite place for walks will surely be the Croisette promenade. Looking at it today, it is hard to imagine that 200 years ago it was an ordinary country road traveled by wanderers and merchants. Now the Croisette promenade is literally dotted with villas, hotels, restaurants, cafes, shops. It starts at the harbor, where luxurious yachts are chartered, and stretches for 2.8 kilometers along the entire Cannes bay. Not only the city residents but also all French people are proud of the promenade, as it is listed in the country's General Inventory of Cultural Heritage.
Photos taken against the backdrop of the Croisette promenade will become a pleasant memory of a wonderful vacation in Cannes.
