As reported by "Russkaya Germaniya", the state that spent the most on migrants last year was North Rhine-Westphalia – 3.5 billion euros. It is followed by Bavaria (1.7 billion euros) and Hesse (1.6 billion euros).
It is noteworthy that the German states calculate refugee spending differently. Some only sum up reimbursements to municipal authorities and costs for initial accommodation. At the same time, other states also include expenses for additional personnel – for example, teachers, police officers, and judges.
Meanwhile, according to a survey conducted by the sociological institute Infratest Dimap on behalf of Handelsblatt, only 12% of German citizens are confident in the successful integration of refugees. At the same time, every fourth respondent believes that this is too difficult a task for the country.
It is noteworthy that the number of deported refugees in Germany has decreased in the meantime. According to German police and the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees, the deportation rate from Germany in 2017 fell by 5.6% compared to 2016. Last year, 23,966 people were deported from Germany, which is 5.6% or 1,409 people fewer than in 2016. Approximately 98% of deported refugees were sent to their home countries by plane. All flights were paid for from the federal budget, and the cost amounted to 11 million euros.
