Music festivals and competitions are held everywhere today. They have different statuses, but one goal: to help talents in their development and promotion to the public. Many events around the world are held for choral groups. Probably, these are the largest music festivals in terms of participant composition.
In many cities, choral singing competitions have become local holidays, attended not only by residents of neighboring areas, but also by tourists from all over the world. Who among us has not heard of the famous Chaliapin Festival in Crimea? Its official name is: "International Festival – Competition of Choral and Vocal Art named after F.I. Chaliapin".
For the ninth time in 2009, Yalta will host performers and groups working in academic and folk genres. Pop vocalists are also invited. The long-term activity of this music festival is aimed at popularizing choral and vocal performing arts. Among the objectives of the event is international exchange of creative achievements and experience. In Prague, for example, there is the International Festival of Orchestras, Accordion Ensembles and All Lovers of Harmonica called "Prague Harmonica Days". For the 24th time in the autumn of 2010, the famous International Folklore Festival in the Polish city of Zielona Góra will open its doors to guests and participants. And in the summer in Bulgaria, in Pomorie, the Seventh International Festival of Orthodox Music "Holy Mother of God – Worthy It Is" will take place. Orthodox church choirs that regularly participate in divine services will perform there. Clergy singers, priests, chamber groups, mixed and homogeneous choirs and vocal ensembles will show their mastery.
