Visitors to the museum will be able to see unique publications of the oldest Ukrainian publishing houses in Canada, as well as archival documents, photos, personal belongings and awards of the last president of the Ukrainian People's Republic in exile, Mykola Plaviuk.
Special attention is paid to the topic of the Canadian Plast – a youth organization, as well as the outstanding achievements of Canadians of Ukrainian origin in the country's main sport – hockey.
"For us, the unique experience of survival and development of the Ukrainian language and culture outside the motherland is extremely interesting and valuable. The fates and biographies of the exhibition's heroes – both famous and nameless – are striking, as is their contribution not only to the development of Canada but also to the 'preservation of the Ukrainian substance in the world.' We hope that our museum exhibition project will help to comprehend the special role that the Ukrainian diaspora in Canada currently plays," said the project curator, leading researcher at the Museum of the Ukrainian Diaspora, art critic, candidate of philological sciences Natalia Bilous.
As Russianweek.ca notes, the exhibition project THE UKRAINIAN CANADIANS is implemented with the support of the Embassy of Canada in Ukraine.
