Anyone can handle installing a video surveillance kit
Despite the fact that nowadays it is very important to protect your home or property from criminal encroachments, many people do not install security video surveillance at their premises, because the equipment costs a lot of money, and installation also amounts to a significant sum. But, if you are among those people who hope that they will avoid such an unpleasant event as a burglary, know that the presence of video surveillance equipment in itself greatly reduces the possibility of intruders breaking into the premises. You can also use video surveillance cameras to mobilize employee work, track car license plates, and, ultimately, prove the fact of a burglary to the police and present evidence. Having a certain type of security system, you can even monitor your property while on vacation or on a business trip.
Can you install a video surveillance system yourself?
Everyone knows that installing video surveillance cameras and adjusting the recording device is an extremely difficult task that is unlikely to be accomplished by a person not versed in these intricacies. As a rule, for this purpose, people turn to specialized companies with experienced employees in the field of installing video surveillance systems. These same specialists can decide exactly what equipment needs to be installed at your facility.
However, nowadays the domestic market offers many options for installing security surveillance on your own. Among these options are ready-made equipment kits suitable for offices and buildings of various sizes and purposes, for example, a set of several surveillance cameras, a video recorder, prepared cables, and small parts for system installation. By installing such security surveillance, you can avoid making a deal with a security company that will charge a pretty penny for its services. Moreover, installing a ready-made equipment kit at the facility will not take much time and effort. You can be sure that all parts in such kits fit each other perfectly and provide constant protection for the selected room.
Even a pure humanities scholar who is absolutely unfamiliar with any technical intricacies and cannot fix electrical wiring on their own can handle installing a video surveillance kit. To save several thousand hryvnias on installing security surveillance, you will need only a few tools that everyone has – a screwdriver and a drill. If for some reason you don't have these tools, go to the nearest specialized supermarket and buy them. No matter how expensive the drill and screwdriver turn out to be, it will still be much cheaper than calling a technician.
So, you have the necessary tools, and we can proceed to the main part of the work. Choose exactly where you want to place the surveillance cameras. Chosen? Now turn on the drill and drill holes in the right places. When the holes are ready, hammer standard plastic dowels into them. Then proceed as if you were hanging a bookshelf: screw the bolts into the dowels, hang the bracket on the bolts, and then mount the video camera on it. Of course, you can do without dowels and even without a drill, but then your equipment will hold less well.
When all this is done, only a small step remains to the final stage. Namely, you need to connect the video surveillance cameras to the video recorder using twisted cables. For this, there are special outputs at the ends of the cables. Overall, it is as simple as connecting a printer to a computer. And now you can turn on the video surveillance system and use it to your heart's content.
Adjusting the video recorder
Those video recorders that are sold on the domestic market in kits with cameras are usually already configured for them. But if you want to adjust the operation of the recording device in some special way, arm yourself with the instruction manual. In general, adjusting the video recorder will not cause you trouble, since everything is described in the instructions in an extremely accessible way and there are not many settings options.
For example, you can set the cameras to respond to motion or simply set a security mode for a certain time of day. You can also set continuous recording, but in this case, keep in mind that the disk memory will fill up quickly. To prevent this, reduce the recording quality or set the minimum number of frames per second. As a rule, average quality recording is quite sufficient for effective system operation.
All this work will take you about a quarter of an hour, but the money saved will last much longer. If you've messed something up and the video surveillance system doesn't work, call the service center, and they will explain in detail exactly what you need to do.
