World Auto Shows Prefer Exclusivity

Manufacturers prefer to present all world premieres at global auto shows

For them, this is a local market, albeit with fairly large volumes, but still far from advanced. All the latest cars using advanced technologies are still first shown at world-famous auto shows, since they are initially aimed at the markets of Europe, the USA and Japan.

Even the Beijing Auto Show in recent years has begun to play a significantly larger role than, for example, the Moscow Auto Show. And this is due not only to the total volume of cars sold in China. Yes, it is huge, but a considerable part of these cars are absolutely innovative developments. It is in Russia that China is known for its cheap and often low-quality cars. Domestically and to the USA itself, it exports quite decent cars.

In addition, Chinese automakers are actively developing both hybrid and electric cars, which, as most experts expect, will dominate the market in a decade. The global crisis helped them greatly in this, after which many legendary car brands changed owners to Chinese for relatively little money.

At any auto show you can see concept cars from China – and often they are indistinguishable from the developments of European or American manufacturers. Having a huge advantage – relatively cheap labor – China can offer decent quality at a very good price.

Yes, a certain number of world premieres are also announced at domestic auto shows. But if you look more closely, such premieres can be considered "world" only very conditionally, since these models were developed exclusively for the local market.
