Surely, no one wants to buy a "wrecked" vehicle that, due to some misunderstanding, ended up on the market rather than at the nearest scrap metal collection point, where it belongs. Therefore, it is better to familiarize yourself in advance with some details that require attention when inspecting a car.
Inspection of body parts
You should inspect the car in daylight. And most importantly, the car must be clean.
Look at the paint coating of the body from a distance of half a meter. The coating should not have differences in shades. If there are any, this confirms that the car has been repainted. Often such defects become noticeable when sunlight reflects off them. If the car has not been repainted before, there will be no difference in color shade.
Usually, an unpainted car has chips and scratches, which is quite normal. But a brand-new paint coating on a used car should alert the buyer.
Inspection of gaps
The gaps between the hood and the fender deserve special attention. Their width on both sides should be the same thickness. If the width of the gaps differs in symmetrical places, it is better to look for another vehicle.
You can also try opening and closing the doors several times. When performing such procedures, the car should not make any extraneous sounds or knocking.
Checking the lights
The condition of the windows and headlights can determine whether the car has been in an accident. If the headlights have different transparency, this indicates their recent replacement. In such cases, it would not hurt to ask the seller about the reason for replacing these elements.
As for the windshield, there should be a factory logo in the right corner. The absence of such a sign indicates that it has been replaced.
The headlights should emit symmetrical and even light. To check this, you need to drive the car up to a flat surface and turn on the headlights. The light from them should fall evenly and at the correct angle.
Inspection of seals on windows and doors
You should bend back the seals on the windshield. The same procedures are also performed on the rear window. There should be no paint drips under the seals.
