Numerous surveys conducted directly on these playgrounds have shown the following.
First, parents are not sure about their children's safety. Dirt and trash not only soil but also carry pathogenic bacteria; children can easily fall, get hurt, or scratch themselves; dogs are often walked on the playground. Second, in rainy weather, children stomp in the mud, get dirty from head to toe; large puddles linger on the playgrounds, and on hot days it is too dusty. Third, despite the bright, beautiful slides, swings, and other attractions, the playgrounds look uncomfortable, dreary, and unattractive.
The culprit is granite screenings, a hard, allergenic, ugly material that covers the playgrounds. In hot weather it creates dust, in rainy weather it turns into mud. Its small particles are attractive to dogs that use it as a toilet; at the same time, it quickly compacts, becomes hard, making it easy to get a bad bruise, and sharp stones can cause injuries. Moreover, it is easily trodden away from under swings, slides, and other attractions, resulting in depressions that turn into puddles after rain. Furthermore, granite screenings are not only ugly but also allergenic.
What to do? Fortunately, an alternative to granite screenings has now appeared in our country – this is the Masterfibre rubber playground coating.
