Cooling off under a stream of cool water on a hot day, washing away dust, dirt, and plant pollen that can cause allergies from the skin is not only beneficial but also pleasant. You can set up a summer shower at the dacha, on a fishing trip, or in a forest clearing where tourists pitch camp. It is important to choose the right location for it.
The water tank should be heated as much as possible by sunlight, so do not place the shower cabin near houses or fences whose shadows will fall on the tank. It is advisable to place the shower on a elevated spot to facilitate water drainage, but it should also be protected from strong winds and drafts.
How large should the tank for a dacha shower be? For a family of two, 40-50 liters is sufficient; if five or more people will use it, the tank volume can reach up to 200 liters. But remember: the larger the tank, the slower the water will heat up.
The volume of the drainage pit is determined depending on the size of the tank, but it should not be less than one or more than three cubic meters. It is located several meters from the cabin, otherwise wastewater can wash away the soil beneath it. It is advisable to provide a sloped embankment and reinforce it with roofing felt or polyethylene film.
Construction of the shower should start with the foundation; its thickness will be just a few centimeters of poured concrete, but it will reliably hold the cabin even on loose soil. Metal pipes should be installed at the corners to support the tank.
The cabin walls can be made from a variety of materials: slate, plywood, boards, or even opaque film. However, nowadays you can purchase a ready-made shower cabin that can be quickly assembled like a children's construction set. Such cabins usually have a more aesthetic appearance and are quite durable.
On the roof, it is advisable to install a black plastic water tank. Metal tanks are less convenient: they are heavier and prone to corrosion, so they need to be painted regularly. An adapter for attaching the hose is mounted in the tank, with a sprayer and the tap itself fixed at the end. For filling the tank, a second hose is connected to a pump or water supply. If the tank is filled with buckets, a reliable ladder is additionally needed.
