Organize a tour of Bulgaria – and you will learn about many sights of this wonderful country
If you want your holiday in Bulgaria to be unforgettable and eventful, go to the country's capital. In Sofia, in its very center, there are many sights that must be explored by arriving tourists. The pointed minaret of Banya Bashi Mosque, the ancient mosaic on the walls, the Rotunda of St. George, which is part of a church built in the second century, the Church of Sofia, which gave the city its name, the Church of the Holy Resurrection – this is just an incomplete list of what Bulgaria offers you to see in the center of the capital.
Don't forget to pay attention to the largest shopping street – Vitosha Boulevard, where you can visit the theological academy, the historical museum, which houses the golden Panagyurishte bowls with mythological scenes depicted on them.
Another beautiful sight is the Church of St. Nicholas. It was built here as a memorial to Russian soldiers who died during the Russo-Turkish War. Alexander Nevsky Cathedral is no less grand. Its domes, cast in gold, are visible from afar and remind of the soldiers who gave their lives in the struggle for Bulgaria's freedom from Ottoman rule.
Varna is one of the oldest cities in Europe. Its history began as early as the 6th century BC. Today it is the largest industrial and cultural center of the country. Despite the implementation of many projects, dynamic economic development and construction of modern office buildings, Varna hides numerous traces of ancient history.
Pleven is another interesting historical city. The historical museum of this city is called "The Liberation of Pleven in 1877" and is located in the same house where the great Emperor Alexander II once accepted the surrender of Osman Pasha. South Hill, the site of heavy and prolonged fighting, has turned into the Skobelev Park-Museum, which will also be of interest to visiting tourists.
On the top of the hill of Pleven, overlooking the city, another museum was created right in the open air – the Panorama of the Pleven Epic about the battle. Today, Pleven is a beautiful, crowded city, with many streets that are convenient pedestrian zones.
