Sweden turned out to be the most friendly country towards newcomers. The system existing in this country, which allows newcomers to stay for a long time, was deemed fair, simple and transparent by the researchers. Following Sweden are Portugal, Belgium, the Netherlands and Finland.

As reported by Lenta.ru, the rating was compiled based on the Migration Integration Policy Index, which is determined by 140 different indicators. Among them are migrants' rights at work, opportunities for obtaining a residence permit, permission to bring a family, and the development of anti-discrimination legislation. Overall, according to researchers, EU countries do half of what they could for migrants. In total, about 21 million migrants live in the 25 EU countries.
