There are several ways to legally obtain Cyprus citizenship
• First of all, a person who has one or both parents who are already citizens of this state can claim it. Also, spouses of Cypriots or those who have lived in Cyprus for seven years or more have privileges in obtaining it. In the latter case, the period of residence is regulated by border stamps in the passport.
• For those who are not limited in funds, there is a special way to become a citizen of Cyprus. This does not require family ties with other citizens of the country, you only need to prove your willingness to cooperate with the economy of Cyprus. A sign of proof will be an account in a Cypriot bank for 17 million euros and the provision of documents to the immigration service. This also includes Cyprus citizenship for investors and businessmen. There are two ways for them: investments in the economic sphere in the amount of 26 million euros and real estate in ownership or a company actively operating for five years. The introduction of innovative technologies, creation of laboratories and research centers is also allowed.
• Obtaining Cyprus citizenship can also be done by marrying a resident of this state. However, an application for permanent residence can only be submitted after three years. The marriage must be not fictitious, but official.
• Before obtaining citizenship, you will have to obtain a residence permit, which allows you to stay in the country without hindrance. The residence permit can be either temporary, for one year, or permanent. However, it does not give the right to official employment.
To work in Cyprus, one must either find a Cypriot employer or open their own company. But the owner of the company must take into account that at least one of his employees must be a local resident. However, you can do without employment if you have a stable monthly income in your country or a bank account with annual income from 4500 euros.
