Criteria for Choosing a Kitchen Set

The diverse design of furniture and color texture can transform any kitchen

Experts advise first to decide on kitchen furniture, and then adjust the kitchen itself to it, choosing surface colors and accessories. Today furniture manufacturers offer multifunctional sets that fit perfectly into both large kitchens and small spaces. To properly orient yourself and choose exactly what you need, the following points should be considered.

• Size of the room

It is necessary to carefully measure, or better draw a plan of the kitchen, indicating the dimensions and location of windows, doors, communications, and all protruding elements above the surface. Of course, water pipes and sewerage can be moved, but this will significantly increase the cost of repairs.

• Color scheme

If the room is small, light colors that visually expand the space are preferable. Colors that "stimulate appetite" include orange, yellow, and their shades. However, if the kitchen is considered as a design object, its style will be determining.

For minimalism, a black-and-white color scheme with splashes of bright accents is suitable, and for "country" – various shades of wood. It is desirable that the upper cabinets are lighter than the lower ones. A solid-colored set looks beautiful, especially made of wood.

• Material

The choice of kitchen furniture material depends on financial capabilities. The most environmentally friendly remains solid wood furniture, but it will also be the most expensive option. Countertops made of natural or artificial stone look noble and are quite durable.

Furniture made of chipboard or MDF is more affordable and looks quite attractive. This option is also suitable for those who like to change the interior frequently.

• Layout

Most kitchen sets are assembled from modules that help to use the kitchen space most fully and rationally. It is worth deciding how many cabinets and work surfaces are needed and how they will be arranged. It is better for the refrigerator, sink, stove, and countertop to be as close to each other as possible to save the housewife's effort when cooking. In small kitchens, one should not forget the need to leave enough space for opening cabinet doors and for passage.

• Functionality

Already at the planning stage, it is necessary to choose the most spacious and convenient component elements: drawers, pull-out and revolving shelves that will occupy the far corners of the cabinets but still allow easy access to needed items, brackets, lighting for work surfaces and the sink, and much more. The best furniture is considered to be on legs, which will allow adjusting the height of all parts of the set. As for the countertop, it is better to choose a solid one – it will be easier to care for and keep clean.

A thorough and thoughtful approach will help choose a kitchen set model that best matches the kitchen space and the needs of its owners.
