Wrought iron elements in the interior of a country house: from castles to cottages

Therefore, to this day, wrought iron interior elements are perceived as a sign of aristocracy. In this symbolic meaning, they are characteristic of such old interior design styles as classicism, gothic, baroque, empire. These styles are characterized by intricate forms of wrought iron products with complex and sometimes asymmetrical patterns.

Interestingly, the use of wrought iron elements has even found a place in more modern interior design styles that essentially reject classical interior design styles. In the laconic styles of high-tech and minimalism, which are not inclined to excessive embellishment, wrought iron elements of much simpler form are used.

As for specific interior elements, the most common are wrought iron stair railings, balcony railings, fireplace grates, beds. It does not stop at the interior of the house. On the facade of the house and on the garden plot, you can find wrought iron window grilles, canopies over the porch, fences, barbecues.

As in the Middle Ages, in today's time, wrought iron elements are considered an attribute of expensive houses made of brick or stone. The inhabitants of simple wooden houses simply would not have enough money to purchase such solid handmade metal products. But today, due to significant progress in the manufacturing technologies of wrought iron products, as well as progress in house construction technologies, the desire to buy wrought iron railings for a wooden house no longer seems strange, and is easily feasible from a financial point of view.

If the interiors of stone and brick houses are small, wrought iron products make them more elegant, then the interiors of houses made of light wood, on the contrary, they add masculinity.

The main paradox of using wrought iron products in interior design is that with skillful use they can bring to almost any interior something that it lacks. At the same time, on the one hand, this something is often secondary to the given interior, but at the same time very important, shifting the accents of perception of the entire interior and making the interior more multifaceted. In interior design projects, both standard wrought iron elements and custom-made elements can be used.
