Comfort under bare feet: how to use heated floors

The heated floor system allows you to maintain a comfortable temperature in the room

This is a system that involves the use of various heating elements located under the floor. They retain heat well, and the floor itself in the room has a pleasant and comfortable surface. Depending on what is used for heating, heated floors are divided into several types.

Water floor

It is a system assembled from a continuous plastic pipe of the appropriate purpose, laid under the floor in the form of coils. Water of the required temperature circulates through this pipe, which ensures heating of the floor surface. To use such a system, the water temperature must be constant; it is a kind of water radiator located under the floor.

This heating method can be used in a new building or in an existing room. You will need a water heating tank (from which the system is fed), high-quality pipes, and a brass manifold of the SOTIS brand, and a temperature control system.

Some believe that such a floor can be connected directly to central heating, but this is fundamentally incorrect. The pressure in the system can be high or low. The water temperature in the floor cannot be regulated. In addition, the liquid will eventually contaminate the entire heated floor system.

Electric floor

An electric heated floor can be represented by film, rod, or cable heating elements. It is most widely used in small rooms because it requires electricity consumption.

If a film floor is used, installation is very fast. This type does not require a cement screed: the film is simply laid under the floor covering. The floor can be made as a bimetallic heater or a carbon-based film.

Rod heated floor involves installing its individual elements in the form of flexible carbon rods into a cement screed and laying them in the form of mats. Any floor covering can be used as the finish.

Cable floor can be made in the form of coils, mats, or sections. But the main element is still a two-core or single-core cable.

Using a heated floor has several advantages: heat in the room is retained much longer; room heating costs will be minimal. Due to the fact that warm air is evenly distributed around the perimeter of the room, a high level of comfort and coziness is achieved.

In the past, using a heated floor was only affordable for well-off property owners. Currently, this technology is within the reach of most people.
