Everything changes when Andy accidentally crosses paths with colleague Ron Strickland. The timid teacher hoped to sit out the danger 'in the bushes' as usual, but Ron does not agree to such terms. He demands a vendetta in the form of a fair fight, and a public one right on the school parking lot. Campbell is horrified: he has neither physical fitness, nor skill, nor courage. Will he have the nerve to face danger, looking straight into his opponent's eyes?
Cliché Comedy or Instructive Story?
If you looked at the poster and came to 'The Fight of the Teachers' at 'Planeta Kino' expecting bloody brawls, vulgarity, and 'below the belt' jokes – you will be disappointed. Yes, the film has a lot of humor – and, importantly, successful humor! – but there are no swear words, naked rear ends in the frame, and all the rest that creators of 'funny' movies love so much.So what is in the film? Oddly enough, this is one of those rare cases when a comedy hides a deep meaning. The screenwriters of 'The Fight' worked hard: the main characters and the reason for their conflict initially seem like scattered puzzle pieces, and therefore unclear. The essence of the film gradually comes together, turning into one picture of striking beauty.
Surely, many teachers and those who are somehow familiar with the education system in Ukraine will find much painfully familiar in the plot. Constant lack of funding, the system of 'pleasing the boss' in the workplace hierarchy, teachers indifferent to children, and the chronic injustice of the bureaucratic system.
A small piece of advice: don't watch the trailer before viewing. It not only fails to reveal the essence of the film but also discourages all intellectuals from wanting to see it.
Rapper Ice Cube in Cinema
Gangsta rapper Ice Cube is not appearing on the big screen for the first time. His track record would put even some professional actors to shame: 'Boyz n the Hood,' 'Three Kings,' 'xXx: State of the Union,' '21 Jump Street,' 'The Book of Life'...In 'The Fight of the Teachers,' you can recognize the usual Ice Cube: he is still brutal, intolerant of offenders, and doesn't mince words. But at the same time, something new has appeared in his image. The rapper's character Ron Strickland is truly fanatical about wanting to teach, to educate the new generation, and sees some higher meaning in this than his colleagues.
If at the beginning of the film Strickland is perceived as an aggressive and unbalanced character, by the end all his motives become clear. You even involuntarily begin to sympathize with the 'big guy' who faced such injustice from the system and, unable to overcome it, tried at least to swing his fists.
